Can falling in love or marriage make me happy?
Yes of course, marriage can give you a lasting happiness but only if it has any relation or impact on the issues in your life that make you unhappy, otherwise it can only give you temporary happiness. For example if lack of financial security make your life miserable but you manage to got a husband with financial security who loves you so much, will that not overcome your financial issues and make you happy? Of course yes. Also if disable person is unhappy because he can't interact with people effectively but he got married and have children who support him, will that not overcome his obstacles and make him happy? Of course yes.
But marriage will not give you a lasting happiness if for example you are depress because you are financially broke but you got married to husband without financial security or because you didn't have opportunity of getting education, in such a case marriage can only bury the problems for a short while, and the reasons why the marriage will make you happy initially is because you can't be depress and happy at the same time. For example if someone feels bad because he is uneducated but suddenly someone makes him happy by giving him assets, he can surely happy and that happiness will bury that depression. But gradually he will become accustomed to that assets he received and that happiness will went away. From there his depression will hunt him again. In these circumstances, if he really want to get over that depression, he must go to school and get education.
Some people who don't know how happiness work grow up with the assumption that finding a partner is the key to happy life. But actually unless if you solved the issues you're experiencing that make your life miserable, getting married will never solved that issues and make you happy, it can only bury the problems for a short while and gradually if the hormones that released and make you happy after marriage begin to diminish, you will revert back to your previous mood (the time when you are single). Can't you ask yourself why unmarried people are mock and bully all the time? The reasons for all this is because of people insecurities about their marriage life, if they are really happy with their marriage they will not waste their time bullying unmarried people. So you can stay single and be happy and you can get married and happy too.
